HVAC Jobs in Salt Lake City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a hvac job in Salt Lake City?
The strongest entry points in Salt Lake City are commercial contractors serving the downtown high-rise corridor, property management companies overseeing multi-family complexes in Sugar House and Liberty Wells, and facilities teams at the University of Utah Medical Center and surrounding health campuses. Candidates with sheet metal or refrigeration experience stand out in this market, and union membership through UA Local 57 opens doors to larger commercial projects across the city.
Which companies hire hvacs in Salt Lake City?
Employers hiring hvacs in Salt Lake City right now include Daikin Applied, Carrier, and Intermountain Home Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market is anchored by a mix of regional mechanical contractors, national facilities management firms, and healthcare systems with large central plants.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Salt Lake City?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for hvac roles since most work is hands-on and site-specific. About 40% of hvac openings tied to Salt Lake City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, mostly in estimating, project coordination, or energy auditing functions. Those desk-based roles are most concentrated among Salt Lake City's larger commercial contractors and building efficiency firms.
How can I get a hvac job in Salt Lake City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Salt Lake City is an apprenticeship through UA Local 57, which places trainees directly with commercial contractors working on the city's ongoing downtown and medical district construction. Residential service companies in neighborhoods like Millcreek and Holladay also hire entry-level helpers for seasonal tune-up and install work. A Utah EPA 608 certification and a clean driving record give entry-level applicants a clear edge over unqualified candidates.
Which industries hire the most hvacs in Salt Lake City?
The sectors hiring the most hvacs in Salt Lake City are Construction & Real Estate and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Salt Lake City's rapid commercial development, dense healthcare campus footprint, and growing multifamily residential market keep demand from those sectors consistently high throughout the year.
