HVAC Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a hvac job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's active commercial construction pipeline, the growing Scott's Addition mixed-use corridor, and Southside industrial employers who maintain large facilities year-round. Property management companies overseeing the city's older building stock hire steadily for maintenance-focused hvac roles. Candidates with sheet metal fabrication experience or building automation system familiarity stand out in Richmond's competitive market, as do those comfortable working in the region's older pre-war commercial and institutional buildings.
Which companies hire hvacs in Richmond?
Employers hiring hvacs in Richmond right now include Hungerford Oil Company, Automated Air Systems, and Chase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Richmond's mix of regional mechanical contractors, university facilities departments, and large healthcare campuses like VCU Health creates consistent demand across both project-based and permanent positions.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Richmond?
Remote work is rare for hvac roles since most require hands-on installation, maintenance, or service on physical equipment. About 0% of hvac openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those tend to be estimating, project coordination, or energy auditing roles rather than field technician positions.
How can I get a hvac job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is an apprenticeship through a local mechanical contractor or a union program affiliated with the Richmond area building trades, which combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Entry-level helper and installer assistant roles at residential service companies in the West End and Chesterfield County suburbs frequently hire candidates without prior experience. Earning an EPA 608 certification before applying signals readiness and separates newer candidates in a competitive local applicant pool.
