Senior Level Hvac Project Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level hvac project manager job?
Employers at this level look for demonstrated ownership of large-scale mechanical or HVAC projects, including budget authority and subcontractor management. Candidates who can show a history of successful project delivery, familiarity with energy codes and commissioning processes, and the ability to lead junior engineers or field crews stand out. Certifications such as PE licensure or PMP also strengthen your candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire senior level hvac project managers?
Companies hiring senior level hvac project managers right now include Johnson Controls, ENFRA, and Siemens, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from mechanical contracting firms, large general contractors, engineering consultancies, and commercial real estate developers with active construction or retrofit pipelines.
Are there remote senior level hvac project manager jobs?
Yes, though fully remote roles are limited given the site oversight these positions typically require. About 12% of senior level hvac project manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common in roles focused on design review, estimating, or program management rather than direct field supervision.
What makes a hvac project manager role senior level?
Senior level hvac project manager roles are defined by full project ownership, meaning you set the execution strategy, manage client relationships directly, and are accountable for financial outcomes. You are expected to mentor junior project managers or engineers, resolve escalated technical issues independently, and coordinate across engineering, procurement, and construction disciplines without close supervision.
Which industries hire the most senior level hvac project managers?
