This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Hydrogeologist to join our Pacific Northwest Environmental Site Investigation, Remediation and Hydrogeology Team. You will support our project delivery and growth in multiple market sectors and will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers in the Denver, CO office. Our ideal candidate will be a key member of a team providing project and client management services for hydrogeologic characterization, environmental investigations, water resources assessment, and operational water management.
Your Impact
- Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).
- Complete analysis of literature, data, laboratory samples, and other sources of information uncovering primary, secondary, and tertiary chemical impacts.
- Conduct geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, hydrogeologic testing, geologic and hydrogeologic visualization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling, contaminated sites investigations, and development of conceptual site models.
- Contribute to action plans for larger-scale pollution, corrosion, hazardous waste, and environmental control programs.
- Participate in the application for environmental permits to address issues or concerns and with undertaking any resulting corrective strategies.
- Project management and regulatory agency communications, with responsibilities appropriate to the level of experience of the individual.
- Support proposal writing and maintaining/developing client relationships to ensure project delivery and generation of repeat business.
- Classify contaminated soil or environmental materials such as hazardous waste and provide guidance in their disposal.
- Provide verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Mentor early career staff to support their growth and professional development.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or closely related discipline.
- 5-7 years of post-education experience working as a Geologist or Hydrogeologist.
- Proficient with analytical geology concepts, research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.
- Project management experience with mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
- Experience in site investigations/characterization (e.g., logging boreholes; designing, installing, and developing wells in a variety of hydrogeologic settings for environmental site assessment) and sampling procedures (e.g., soil, water, soil gas, air, and hazardous waste).
- Experience in the design, execution and analysis of pumping tests and slug tests in a variety of hydrogeologic settings, and selection of appropriate analytical methods.
- Experience in developing Work Plans and Data Summary Reports for site characterization and feasibility studies in accordance with CERCLA and other regulatory guidelines.
- Experience in conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM guidelines and industry standards.
- Experience with UST investigations and remediation including investigation of hydro-carbon impacted sites.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulatory programs (e.g. MTCA, RCRA, CERCLA).
- Proficiency with office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior project experience in the Pacific Northwest is highly desired.
- A Master’s or PhD Degree in environmental science/hydrogeology, geology, geosciences, or similar field.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, ArcGIS, MODFLOW, R, Python, etc.
- Experience with environmental statistics and site closure strategies is highly desired.
- Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Professional Geologist (PG) and/or Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHg) and/or Certified Water Rights Examiner (CWRE).
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary: $99,700 - $133,300
