Entry Level Hygienist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hygienist job?
Focus on clinical hours, any internship experience, and a portfolio that shows hands-on patient care skills. Entry level employers typically look for completed accreditation or licensure, familiarity with dental software, and strong communication skills. Tailoring your application to highlight rotations, externships, or volunteer work gives you a genuine edge over candidates who only list coursework.
Which companies hire entry level hygienists?
Companies hiring entry level hygienists right now include Aspen Dental, 42 North Dental, and Elite Dental Partners, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers private dental practices, group dental chains, community health clinics, and hospital-affiliated outpatient facilities, all of which regularly bring on new graduates.
Are there remote entry level hygienist jobs?
Yes, though most hygienist roles require in-person patient care. About 2% of entry level hygienist openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in dental consulting, insurance review, or patient education rather than clinical chair-side work. On-site roles remain the clear majority at this level.
Are these new grad hygienist jobs?
Yes. The listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior hygienist roles alongside other entry level postings. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and treats completed internships, clinical rotations, or a strong portfolio as equivalent to paid work history, so you don't need a lengthy resume to qualify.
Which industries hire the most entry level hygienists?
Entry Level hygienist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Medical Devices, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors drive the most entry level hiring because they maintain high patient volume, experience steady workforce turnover, and frequently build pipelines directly from accredited hygiene programs.
