Information Security Intern Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an information security intern in Oklahoma?
Most Oklahoma information security intern roles require active enrollment in a cybersecurity, computer science, or information systems degree program at an Oklahoma institution such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, or the University of Central Oklahoma. No state-issued license is required for the intern role itself, but employers in Oklahoma's defense and energy sectors frequently expect candidates to be eligible for federal security clearance, and earning CompTIA Security+ before applying gives candidates a measurable edge in the hiring process.
Which companies hire information security interns in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma information security intern roles are posted by Leidos, Cameron University, and State of Oklahoma and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's concentration of defense contractors, energy companies, and regional financial institutions means intern openings appear across a broad range of organization sizes and security environments.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most information security intern jobs?
Oklahoma City, Lawton, and Tulsa lead Oklahoma in information security intern openings. Oklahoma City drives the largest volume due to its dense cluster of federal agencies, defense contractors tied to Tinker Air Force Base, and major energy company headquarters, while Tulsa's financial services firms and manufacturing sector generate consistent demand, and Norman benefits from the University of Oklahoma's technology programs and affiliated employers.
Are there remote information security intern jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and they are more available than in many technical fields, since much of the analytical and monitoring work information security interns handle can be done remotely. About 17% of information security intern openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of many cybersecurity tasks. Roles focused on security operations center monitoring, log analysis, and threat research tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions at defense contractors often require on-site work due to clearance and facility requirements.
How can I get hired as an information security intern in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through university career centers at Oklahoma State University or the University of Oklahoma, where employers actively recruit students with no prior professional experience. Building a home lab, completing a CompTIA Security+ certification, or participating in collegiate cybersecurity competitions like CCDC signals readiness to Oklahoma hiring managers. Energy companies such as Devon Energy and OGE Energy run structured summer intern programs for students earlier in their degree, and IT helpdesk or systems administration roles at Oklahoma institutions serve as common lateral moves into security internships.
Where can I find and apply to information security intern jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to information security intern jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings in one place. Search the listings to find roles that match your skills, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
