Infrastructure Engineer Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an infrastructure engineer in Tennessee?
Infrastructure engineering in Tennessee does not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Candidates strengthen their candidacy by earning vendor-neutral certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or vendor-specific credentials like Cisco's CCNA. Tennessee employers, especially in healthcare and government, often prefer candidates who can pass a background check and, in some cases, qualify for a federal security clearance.
Which companies hire infrastructure engineers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring infrastructure engineers in Tennessee right now include Oracle, Speechify, and xAI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's concentration of large healthcare systems, logistics companies, and state government agencies means demand is consistent year-round across both private and public sector organizations.
Which Tennessee cities have the most infrastructure engineer jobs?
Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville account for the largest share of infrastructure engineer openings in Tennessee. Nashville's density of healthcare systems, corporate headquarters, and state government offices drives the bulk of demand, while Memphis draws openings from logistics and distribution operations, and Knoxville's proximity to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee supports steady public sector and research-adjacent hiring.
Are there remote infrastructure engineer jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of work. Infrastructure engineering includes both hands-on datacenter and network roles that require on-site presence and cloud or systems administration roles that can often be done remotely. About 50% of infrastructure engineer openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Cloud infrastructure and monitoring roles are the most likely to be listed as fully remote.
How can I get hired as an infrastructure engineer in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a helpdesk or systems administrator role at one of Tennessee's large employer types, including hospital networks, state agencies, or manufacturing companies, and then building toward infrastructure responsibilities from within. HCA Healthcare and Tennessee state government agencies regularly bring on entry-level IT staff. Earning a CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification before applying demonstrates foundational knowledge and gives candidates a clear edge over those without credentials.
Where can I find and apply to infrastructure engineer jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to infrastructure engineer jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
