At Jack Henry, we’re more than a technology company, we’re a force for good in financial services. We’re redefining how community banks and credit unions connect with the people they serve. Our mission is rooted in people inspired innovation, empowering financial institutions to deliver seamless, secure, and human centered experiences. We deliver cutting-edge solutions that are paving the way for the next generation of digital banking and payments, but our true impact begins with our associates. If you're ready to help transform an industry and grow with a company that values purpose, collaboration, and excellence then we’d love to meet you.
Our Cloud Core Infrastructure team isn't just managing servers; WE are the navigators of a massive, shifting ocean of data, compute and artificial intelligence. We maintain the "vessels" (GKE clusters), the "charts" (Terraform), and the "treasure vaults" (HashiCorp Vault) that keep Banno afloat. We’re looking for an Engineer who doesn't just want to "work in tech," but someone who hears the call of the open sea—the vast, unexplored potential of the deep.
This is a remote position and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level. This role may require occasional travel, up to 8% for meetings, training, or conferences.
All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Watchkeeping: Monitoring our GKE and Dataflow horizons for any sign of trouble using Datadog and Honeycomb.
- Maintaining the Rigging: Using Terraform to make sure our cloud resources are sturdy and well-labeled.
- Securing the Cargo: Learning the art of secret management within HashiCorp Vault to keep our keys out of the wrong hands.
- Ship’s Log: Helping us document our discoveries so the next explorer knows the way.
- May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to have:
- Enrolled in or a graduate of a computer science, or software engineering degree program or bootcamp.
- Navigational Scripting: A bit of Golang or Python to help automate the rowing.
- Container Craft: Experience with Docker or Kubernetes (knowing your way around a Pod).
- The Blueprinting: Familiarity with Terraform or other ways to chart the sea.
- Data Handling: Exposure to the big vaults like MongoDB, Spanner, or BigQuery.
What would be nice for you to have:
- Insatiable Curiosity: You are the person who asks "why?" until you hit the bedrock. You don't just want to fix a broken pipeline; you want to understand the physics of the failure.
- The Spirit of Exploration: You view a complex Terraform plan or a massive BigQuery dataset not as a chore, but as a map of a new world. You are comfortable feeling "lost" for a moment while you find the right path forward.
- A Love for the Sea (and its Systems): You appreciate that infrastructure is a living ecosystem. You value the stability of the tides and the discipline required to keep a ship (and a platform) "Bristol fashion"—organized, clean, and ready for a storm.
- Resilience in the Gale: When a Spanner node lags or a Dataflow job hits a reef, you stay calm. You’re a problem-solver ready to weather the choppy seas.
If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement on this posting, we still encourage you to apply. We’re looking for passionate, driven individuals who align with our mission and can bring unique perspectives to our team.

Tips for Your Infrastructure Software Engineer Job Search
Quantify your systems impact on your resume
Hiring managers for infrastructure roles want numbers tied to scale, latency, or uptime. Replace vague bullet points with concrete outcomes like reduced deployment time or increased throughput so your resume passes the technical screen.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists infrastructure software engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to the stack listed
Infrastructure job postings are specific about tooling. If a role lists Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS, mirror those exact terms in your resume where you have genuine experience. Generic infrastructure resumes rarely clear automated filters.
Filter openings by deployment model first
Before applying, check whether the role is cloud-native, on-premise, or hybrid. Your experience building in one environment won't always map cleanly to another, and mismatches surface fast in technical interviews.
Prepare a live system design walkthrough
Infrastructure interviews almost always include a system design round. Walk through an architecture you built or improved, focusing on the tradeoffs you made around availability, cost, and latency rather than just describing the final state.
Negotiate on scope before negotiating on pay
In infrastructure offers, the on-call rotation and incident responsibility scope vary widely. Clarify coverage expectations, escalation policies, and rotation size before signing, since these directly affect your day-to-day workload after you start.
Infrastructure Software Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most infrastructure software engineers?
The companies hiring the most infrastructure software engineers right now include Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, Amazon, and Apple, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring is concentrated in organizations with large-scale cloud operations or active platform modernization programs.
How many infrastructure software engineer jobs are remote?
About 18% of infrastructure software engineer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more remote-accessible engineering disciplines. Platform engineering and site reliability roles tend to have the highest remote availability, while roles involving on-premise data center work or hardware integration are more likely to require on-site presence.
How do you become an infrastructure software engineer?
Start by building proficiency in Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and at least one major cloud platform. Learn infrastructure-as-code through hands-on projects using tools like Terraform or Ansible. Contribute to open-source DevOps tooling or build a home lab to demonstrate real system design experience. Certifications from AWS, Google Cloud, or the Linux Foundation can validate your skills to employers during the hiring process.
Can you get hired as an infrastructure software engineer without much experience?
Yes, entry-level infrastructure roles exist, but they typically require demonstrated hands-on skills even without professional experience. Building a portfolio of personal or open-source projects involving cloud provisioning, container deployments, or CI/CD pipelines is more effective than listing coursework alone. Targeting companies that run graduate programs or explicitly label roles as junior or associate gives you the most realistic path in.
What does the infrastructure software engineer interview process look like?
The process typically includes an initial recruiter screen, a technical phone interview focused on networking or cloud fundamentals, a system design round where you architect a scalable or highly available system, and a coding round that emphasizes scripting and automation rather than algorithms. Some employers add a take-home infrastructure project or an on-call readiness discussion before the final offer stage.
Where can I find and apply to infrastructure software engineer jobs?
You can find and apply to infrastructure software engineer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and target stack, then apply directly to each listing from the page.
