Insurance Jobs in Wilmington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a insurance job in Wilmington?
Focus your search on Wilmington's dense cluster of corporate headquarters, regional carriers, and financial services firms downtown and along the Riverfront. Employers here hire heavily in commercial lines, underwriting, and claims operations. Candidates who combine a property and casualty or life and health license with experience in a financial services or banking environment stand out, since many Wilmington insurers sit inside large corporate structures that blend risk, compliance, and insurance functions.
Which companies hire insurances in Wilmington?
Wilmington insurance roles are posted by State Farm, AMBA, and Kemper and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes regional carriers, national insurers with Delaware corporate offices, and large banks and financial institutions that maintain in-house risk and insurance departments.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Wilmington?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: desk-based work like underwriting support, claims processing, and policy analysis is far more remote-friendly than field adjusting or in-person client roles. About 50% of insurance openings tied to Wilmington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the city's strong corporate office culture. Analytical and back-office insurance roles at Wilmington's financial services employers are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a insurance job in Wilmington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Wilmington is through customer service or administrative roles at regional carriers or the insurance divisions of large financial institutions headquartered downtown. These employers regularly hire for claims intake, policy servicing, and underwriting assistant positions that don't require prior insurance experience. Obtaining a Delaware property and casualty license before applying signals commitment and gives you a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates in this market.
