IT Auditor Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it auditor in Iowa?
Becoming an it auditor in Iowa starts with a bachelor's degree in information systems, accounting, or computer science. Iowa does not require a state-issued license specific to IT auditing, so most employers rely on professional certifications. The CISA credential from ISACA is the most widely recognized in Iowa hiring, followed by the CIA from the Institute of Internal Auditors. Candidates typically build relevant experience through internal audit departments or public accounting firms operating in the state.
How much do IT auditors make in Iowa?
IT auditors in Iowa earn a median of about $77,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,420 for the lowest 10% to over $123,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it auditors in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring it auditors in Iowa include HNI Corporation, Eurofins, and State of Iowa, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's concentration of insurance carriers and regional financial institutions headquartered in Des Moines makes it one of the more active Midwestern markets for this role.
Which Iowa cities have the most it auditor jobs?
Des Moines, Iowa City, and Davenport account for the largest share of it auditor openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives most of the volume because it is home to major insurance and financial services headquarters, while Cedar Rapids adds openings through its manufacturing and technology sectors, and Iowa City sees demand through the University of Iowa and its affiliated health system.
Are there remote it auditor jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since IT auditing is fundamentally analytical and document-driven work that translates well to remote environments. About 72% of it auditor openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of control testing and audit reporting. SOX compliance and cybersecurity audit roles tend to have the highest share of fully remote arrangements among Iowa listings.
How can I get hired as a it auditor in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an internal audit associate or junior IT audit role at one of Iowa's large financial services or healthcare employers, where formal rotation programs expose new hires to IT controls work. Principal Financial Group and the University of Iowa Health Care both run structured audit development programs that accept candidates without direct audit experience. Lateral moves from IT support, business analyst, or accounting roles are common entry points. Earning the CISA or starting the CIA exam process before applying gives candidates a measurable edge in Iowa listings.
Where can I find and apply to it auditor jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to it auditor jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current Iowa openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location preference, and apply directly to the ones that match.
