Entry Level IT Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level it manager job?
Focus on building hands-on experience through internships, help-desk roles, or IT support positions before applying. Employers at this level look for candidates who understand ticketing systems, basic network administration, and user support workflows. A CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification signals technical readiness, and demonstrating that you have led even a small project or team, whether in school or a part-time role, gives you a real edge.
Which companies hire entry level it managers?
Companies hiring entry level it managers right now include Amazon, Kaiser Permanente, and XoriantːUS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from mid-size businesses, regional healthcare systems, and growing technology firms that need hands-on IT oversight without requiring years of prior management experience.
Are there remote entry level it manager jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles remain more common at the entry level given the hands-on nature of IT infrastructure work. About 16% of entry level it manager openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, so candidates open to hybrid arrangements will find a broader set of opportunities than those seeking fully remote positions.
Are these new grad it manager jobs?
Yes, many of these postings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates and candidates with little or no prior management experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships toward eligibility, and values a portfolio of projects or certifications over a long work history. Look for language like 'entry level,' 'junior,' or 'new graduate welcome' in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level it managers?
Entry Level it manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because they maintain large internal IT infrastructure, deal with compliance or data security requirements, and need junior managers to coordinate day-to-day technical operations and vendor relationships.
