IT Program Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it program manager in Georgia?
Georgia does not require a state-issued license to work as an it program manager, so the path runs through education and professional certification. Most Georgia employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a business-related field, followed by several years of project or program experience. Earning a PMP from the Project Management Institute is the most widely recognized credential in Georgia listings and is often listed as required at mid-level and senior roles.
Which companies hire it program managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring it program managers in Georgia right now include Honeywell, Woodgrain, and Computacenter, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, federal contracting firms, and regional healthcare systems means demand is steady across multiple sectors rather than tied to a single industry.
Which Georgia cities have the most it program manager jobs?
The cities with the most it program manager openings in Georgia are Atlanta, Fort Gordon, and Lawrenceville. Atlanta dominates because it is home to a dense cluster of technology companies, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters that run large-scale IT programs, while Savannah and Augusta draw openings from logistics operations, defense contractors, and healthcare systems anchored in those regions.
Are there remote it program manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of it program manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on coordination, planning, and stakeholder communication rather than on-site presence. Program governance, vendor management, and reporting functions are the parts of the role most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a it program manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is transitioning from a project coordinator or business analyst role, both of which are common entry points at large Georgia employers such as technology firms in the Atlanta metro, health systems like Emory Healthcare and Piedmont Health, and defense contractors in the Augusta area. Building hands-on exposure to Agile delivery and earning a CAPM or entry-level PMP eligibility while in a supporting role significantly strengthens a candidacy. Georgia Tech's professional education programs and local PMI chapter workshops are practical resources for building credentials before stepping into a full program manager title.
Where can I find and apply to it program manager jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to it program manager jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Georgia employers. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
