As a Senior IT Engineer at Motive, you will help design, build, and scale the systems that power our global workforce, spanning end-user computing, identity and access, collaboration tooling, office and remote connectivity, and core corporate IT operations. You will report into Austin Karr, Director of IT, and serve as a senior technical contributor who improves reliability, security, and user experience while translating business needs into practical, well-engineered solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, systems-minded, and energized by solving difficult technical problems across multiple layers of the environment. You should be comfortable operating with broad stakeholder awareness, partnering across teams, and bringing a new perspective to existing solutions as Motive continues to scale.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and improve scalable corporate IT infrastructure and services for both office-based and remote employees.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across endpoints, identity, collaboration platforms, and network layers to restore service quickly and prevent repeat issues.
- Use agentic development practices to design and build secure, scalable internal tools that automate workflows, improve employee productivity, and extend IT's ability to support the business.
- Build and maintain technical standards, documentation, and operational processes that improve reliability, security, monitoring, and supportability.
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into well-engineered solutions, partnering across departments and with third-party vendors when needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert within IT, driving projects of diverse scope and raising the bar for operational excellence across the department.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, network engineering, or a related corporate IT role.
- Expertise supporting modern corporate IT environments, including identity platforms, collaboration tools, endpoint operating systems, and device management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex projects independently, identify root causes, and drive solutions that support departmental goals.
- Strong written documentation and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to build trust and operate as a reliable technical advisor.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

Mid Level IT Support Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level it support engineer job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just task completion. Highlight systems you administered end to end, escalations you resolved independently, and any documentation or process improvements you led. Recruiters at this level want to see that you moved beyond following instructions and started making judgment calls. Certifications like CompTIA Network+, Microsoft, or ITIL reinforce your technical depth and signal readiness for broader responsibility.
Which companies hire mid level it support engineers?
Companies hiring mid level it support engineers right now include Amazon, Ursus, and Computer One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of organizations, including enterprise technology teams, managed service providers, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and growing companies building out internal IT infrastructure.
Are there remote mid level it support engineer jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and the nature of the role. About 21% of mid level it support engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote positions more common in software-focused or cloud-heavy environments where hands-on hardware access is less critical. On-site roles remain prevalent wherever physical infrastructure, end-user hardware, or network maintenance is central to the position.
How do I move up to a mid level it support engineer role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built through deliberate skill deepening and demonstrated ownership. Focus on mastering a core area, such as network administration, endpoint management, or cloud services, rather than staying generalist. Take on projects you can see through to completion, document your outcomes, and measure your impact where possible. Building familiarity with ticketing systems, ITIL frameworks, and cross-functional collaboration accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level it support engineers?
Mid Level it support engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors tend to run complex internal systems, large distributed workforces, or regulated environments that require experienced support professionals who can handle escalations, maintain uptime, and contribute to infrastructure planning without close supervision.
