This role is a member of the IT Infrastructure Engineering team and collaborates daily with IT Software Engineering and Enterprise Architecture. The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate elevated levels of collaboration across teams with a focus on people and ad-hoc interactions.

The IT Platform Engineer plays a pivotal role in enabling and accelerating the delivery of innovative and reliable technology solutions across our IT department. With experience in automation, orchestration, and security by design, this role is instrumental in optimizing the delivery of safe, reliable software and infrastructure to our customers.
This role demands strong collaboration and clear communication with other IT peers and business line partners. This position offers a balance of challenging and rewarding work, where attention to detail and a security-first mindset are paramount. You'll have the opportunity to build relationships with talented individuals across the bank. This position is located at our beautiful campus in Bangor, Maine, and offers a hybrid work schedule.
As an IT Platform Engineer, you will…
- Proactively self-start on research, design, and implementation of new tools, capabilities, and processes to streamline software and infrastructure testing and deployment.
- Manage and maintain our containerized application platform.
- Work with your team to build a set of reusable services for the platform.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and availability using observability tools.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth and efficient release management.
- Evaluate, research, and recommend new systems and technology to improve existing processes and the user experience.
- Use Infrastructure as Code principles to automate oversight of systems and services in a more scalable and sustainable strategy.
- Implement configuration management for both infrastructure and applications, making them easier to secure, deploy, and maintain.
- Create and maintain accurate diagrams and documentation of supported systems and applications.
- Participate in the authoring and upkeep of IT standards and procedures.
- Maintain a focus on security in all work efforts.
- Foster a culture of continual experimentation and learning.
- Adapt to and lead change, be open to new ideas, take on new challenges, handle pressure, and adjust plans to meet changing needs; manage a portfolio of short-, medium-, and long-term activities.
