Job Overview
Ekim IT Solutions is New England's only dental-specific IT provider, supporting 100+ dental practices across Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts as a Preferred Partner of the Maine Dental Association. Our clients aren't ticket numbers. They're practices where a server going down means patients in chairs and a doctor losing production by the minute. We take that personally.
We run a modern, fully-documented stack across PSA, RMM, documentation, backup/DR, and layered security tooling. Specifics are shared during the interview process. The systems are in place. We need the person who owns them.
This is not a coordinator seat and not a stepping stone. You will own service delivery end to end: every ticket, every project, every client-facing technical outcome. The founder is moving fully into growth and executive relationships. When something goes out the door to a client, it goes out because you approved the quality.
You'll inherit a documented environment, a small technical team (local and remote), and full authority to run the desk your way, as long as the numbers prove it's working.
What You'll Own
- The service desk: dispatch, prioritization, SLAs, and escalations in our PSA. Daily huddles. Nothing sits, nothing slips.
- Quality control: personally review client-facing work before it ships. Catch a bad install, a misconfigured backup, or a sloppy ticket note, and show the tech how to do it right.
- The team: coach, develop, and hold accountable a mixed local/remote technical team. Build the bench and make hiring recommendations.
- Process and documentation: runbooks, onboarding checklists, documentation standards. If it happens twice, it becomes a process.
- Client health: lead quarterly business reviews and be the calm, competent technical face our practices trust when the founder isn't in the room.
- The numbers: SLA attainment, CSAT, ticket aging, tech utilization, and project margin, reported monthly.
Requirements
- 5+ years at a managed service provider (MSP). Internal IT does not count. You know what a PSA is, you've lived inside an RMM, and you understand the economics of an MSP seat.
- 2+ years running or leading a service desk or delivery team, with dispatching, escalations, SLAs, and technician performance as your direct responsibility.
- Hands-on technical depth in Windows Server, M365, networking, and backup/DR. You can jump on a stuck ticket and close it yourself.
- Process obsession. You believe undocumented work didn't happen, and you'd rather build the checklist than be the hero.
- Full-time, sole professional focus. No side businesses, no second jobs, no consulting on nights and weekends.
- Based in or relocating to Greater Portland, Maine.
Strong Pluses
- Deep experience across leading MSP platforms (PSA, RMM, documentation, BDR)
- Dental or healthcare vertical experience (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental, imaging systems, HIPAA)
- Experience managing remote or offshore technicians
- ITIL or similar service management background
Compensation & Benefits
$85,000 to $105,000 base depending on experience, profit sharing, 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision, unlimited PTO plus all major holidays, a company credit card, and a direct line to the owner, and a company plane with pilot on standby (a Cessna 421 Golden Eagle, for when you need to get somewhere fast).

IT Director Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it director in Maine?
Most it director roles in Maine require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field, though many employers prefer a master's degree or MBA. There is no state-issued license required to work as an it director in Maine. Employers typically expect candidates to have worked through senior analyst, IT manager, or systems architect roles before moving into director-level positions. Industry certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or ITIL are widely valued across Maine's healthcare, government, and financial services sectors.
How much do IT directors make in Maine?
IT directors in Maine earn a median of about $160,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $99,030 for the lowest 10% to over $218,290 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it directors in Maine?
Maine it director roles are posted by Diodes Incorporated, BerryDunn, and Kyocera AVX and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's largest employers in healthcare, state government, and regional banking are among the most consistent sources of it director openings throughout the year.
Which Maine cities have the most it director jobs?
Portland, South Portland, and Bangor have the most it director openings in Maine. Portland drives the largest share of demand, anchored by its concentration of healthcare systems, financial services firms, and regional corporate headquarters, while Augusta's openings are largely tied to state agency technology operations and Bangor's reflect the healthcare and university presence in central and eastern Maine.
Are there remote it director jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than many leadership roles, since it directors frequently oversee strategy, vendor relationships, and policy rather than hands-on infrastructure work. About 36% of it director openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting employer flexibility across the state's geographically distributed workforce. Cybersecurity leadership and enterprise architecture roles tend to offer the greatest remote flexibility among it director positions.
How can I get hired as a it director in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is building toward it director through a series of progressively senior roles rather than applying directly without a leadership background. In Maine, starting as a systems administrator, IT analyst, or network engineer at large employers like MaineHealth, Idexx, or state agencies gives direct exposure to enterprise-scale environments. Moving into a team lead or IT manager role is the typical stepping stone. Earning a PMP or CISSP certification signals readiness for director-level responsibility and gives candidates a concrete edge when applying at Maine's mid-size employers and healthcare networks.
Where can I find and apply to it director jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to it director jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, identify roles that match your experience and specialization, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
