IT Director Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it director in Florida?
The path to becoming an it director in Florida typically starts with a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or management information systems, followed by progressive roles in IT management. Florida does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers in healthcare and finance expect certifications such as CISSP or ITIL. Building experience in regulated industries common to Florida, like healthcare systems or financial services, accelerates hiring.
How much do IT directors make in Florida?
IT directors in Florida earn a median of about $168,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,390 for the lowest 10% to over $264,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it directors in Florida?
Employers hiring it directors in Florida right now include AutoNation, Amphenol CIT, and One More Child, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of large hospital systems, insurance carriers, defense contractors, and hospitality corporations creates consistent demand for senior IT leadership across the state.
Which Florida cities have the most it director jobs?
Orlando, Tampa, and Trinity have the most it director openings in Florida. Miami's financial services and international commerce sector, Tampa's growing cybersecurity and healthcare ecosystem, and Orlando's hospitality technology and defense contracting base each generate sustained demand for IT leadership, accounting for the bulk of postings tied to established enterprise employers.
Are there remote it director jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many senior roles allow. About 33% of it director openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the strategic and managerial nature of the position. Responsibilities tied to vendor oversight, policy development, and cross-department planning translate well to remote work, while hands-on infrastructure and data center duties typically require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a it director in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an IT manager role at a mid-size Florida employer before targeting director-level positions. Large Florida health systems such as AdventHealth and HCA Florida regularly promote from within, starting with IT project leads and systems analysts. Earning a PMP or CompTIA Security+ certification strengthens applications considerably, and lateral moves from roles like IT operations manager or infrastructure team lead are the most common bridges into a director title.
Where can I find and apply to it director jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to it director jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
