Security Engineering Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security engineering manager in Florida?
The path typically starts with a technical security role such as security analyst or security engineer, followed by several years of hands-on experience before moving into management. Florida has no state-issued license specific to this role, but employers consistently require industry credentials like CISSP or CISM. A bachelor's degree in computer science or information security is standard, and many Florida employers in defense or healthcare prefer candidates who also hold a relevant graduate degree or security clearance.
How much do security engineering managers make in Florida?
Security engineering managers in Florida earn a median of about $105,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,960 for the lowest 10% to over $173,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security engineering managers in Florida?
Employers hiring security engineering managers in Florida right now include Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, and Blackstone, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of defense primes, regional bank headquarters, and large hospital networks means hiring tends to cluster around contractors and regulated industries with continuous compliance and security infrastructure needs.
Which Florida cities have the most security engineering manager jobs?
Orlando, Miami, and Tampa have the most security engineering manager openings in Florida. Miami's density of financial institutions and international headquarters drives demand there, while Tampa's mix of defense contractors and healthcare systems sustains consistent hiring, and Orlando's growing tech corridor and simulation industry anchors openings in that market.
Are there remote security engineering manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many leadership roles in tech, security engineering managers can often operate remotely when their scope is policy, architecture, or program oversight rather than hands-on lab work. About 33% of security engineering manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Roles focused on cloud security governance, risk management, or distributed team leadership are the most consistently offered as remote positions.
How can I get hired as a security engineering manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a senior security engineer or security analyst role into a team lead position at a mid-size Florida employer before stepping into full management. Large Florida healthcare systems and defense contractors like those operating in the Tampa Bay and Space Coast areas often promote from within for first-time managers. Earning a CISSP or CISM early signals readiness, and building a record of leading projects or mentoring junior staff strengthens a transition case significantly.
Where can I find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, location, and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
