Security Engineering Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security engineering manager in Pennsylvania?
Most security engineering managers in Pennsylvania follow a path that begins with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, then build hands-on experience in security engineering or architecture roles. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers consistently expect industry certifications like CISSP or CISM. Progression typically moves through individual contributor and senior engineer positions before stepping into people management within a security organization.
How much do security engineering managers make in Pennsylvania?
Security engineering managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $107,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,890 for the lowest 10% to over $167,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security engineering managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring security engineering managers in Pennsylvania right now include Lockheed Martin, BNY, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's mix of defense contractors, major financial institutions, and large academic health systems means hiring is spread across several distinct industry verticals rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most security engineering manager jobs?
King of Prussia, Exton, and Hershey have the most security engineering manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense concentration of financial services firms, health systems, and federal government contractors, while Pittsburgh draws hiring through its technology sector and large university-affiliated medical centers, and suburban markets like the Lehigh Valley and King of Prussia add volume through corporate headquarters and defense operations.
Are there remote security engineering manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of security engineering manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and cloud-centric nature of much of the work. Strategic planning, security program oversight, and vendor management are the functions most likely to be offered fully remote, while roles requiring hands-on lab access or physical data center presence remain predominantly on-site.
How can I get hired as a security engineering manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a security engineering manager role from a senior individual contributor position in security engineering, security operations, or a closely related discipline like network engineering or systems administration. Large Pennsylvania employers such as UPMC, Vanguard, and Lockheed Martin regularly develop internal candidates and hire for associate or lead engineer roles that serve as a pipeline into management. Earning a CISSP or CISM while in a senior engineer role, and volunteering for team-lead or project-lead responsibilities, signals readiness and gives hiring managers a concrete reason to promote.
Where can I find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to security engineering manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
