The role:
As an Automation Technician, you will help drive our goals by:
- Supporting the operation of automation control systems to maintain safe, reliable and efficient production
- Troubleshooting and resolving control system and equipment issues with production and maintenance teams
- Performing maintenance and adjustments on automated electrical equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives and servo systems
- Updating control systems documentation and supporting program modifications to improve performance
- Working with external vendors to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues
- Training colleagues on troubleshooting techniques and safe maintenance practices
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
- Experience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems and industrial automation in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including drives, control panels and power distribution
- Ability to analyse faults, identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley systems (ControlLogix, RSLogix 5000) and industrial networks is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
