INTRODUCTION
The Application Engineer position reviews customers' technical needs and recommends specific product/service solutions in ifm’s product area to meet these needs.
In addition, this role estimates costs and consults with the sales force on technical matters, ensuring that proposed solutions can be integrated with current systems and equipment. This position also works with engineers from various departments to resolve problems that arise during and after implementation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and solve customer technical inquiries via phone, email, Webchat and Teams
- Promote ifm products to customers when applicable
- Proactively identify areas to continuously improve Customer Support process
- Develop Digital Technical Support Content to be used online to support customers
- Perform customer service duties such as order entry, quoting, stock checking, invoicing, etc. when needed to prevent additional transfers for customers
- Start to understand and learn products in the Complex Product Line
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a 2-year technical degree, 4-year technical degree strongly preferred
- Application experience with sensors and controls for a manufacturer or related industry required
- Machine repair or maintenance experience with industrial equipment a plus
- Ability to learn cutting edge sensors and controls technologies
- 3 years or more of technical support experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
