New Jersey employers in financial services and pharma typically also expect demonstrated experience with enterprise application environments and certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or vendor-specific credentials from Microsoft or ServiceNow, which strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do application support engineers make in New Jersey?
Application support engineers in New Jersey earn a median of about $108,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,380 for the lowest 10% to over $207,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire application support engineers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring application support engineers in New Jersey right now include Cls US Services, BNY, and MUFG, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and large technology consultancies means consistent application support demand across a wide range of enterprise environments.
Which New Jersey cities have the most application support engineer jobs?
Jersey City, Iselin, and Camden have the most application support engineer openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City draw the bulk of demand from financial services and technology firms headquartered there, while Princeton benefits from the concentration of pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in the Route 1 corridor that rely heavily on enterprise application infrastructure.
Are there remote application support engineer jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most technical roles, since application support work is largely desk-based and can be performed over secure remote connections. About 88% of application support engineer openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility built up in the sector. Monitoring, incident response, and tier-two support tasks are the functions most commonly approved for remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a application support engineer in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior or associate IT support role at one of New Jersey's large enterprise employers, such as a hospital system like RWJBarnabas Health, a pharma company like Merck, or a consultancy with a Parsippany or Iselin office. Candidates moving from help desk analyst or desktop support positions gain the incident management exposure that application support teams value. Earning an ITIL Foundation or CompTIA A+ certification before applying signals baseline readiness and separates new candidates from the pool.
