Most technical support roles in New Jersey require a high school diploma or associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, along with an industry certification such as CompTIA A+. New Jersey does not issue a state license for general technical support work, so employers rely on certifications and demonstrated hands-on experience. Many candidates build their background through community college programs at institutions like Middlesex College or Rowan College before applying to entry-level positions.
Which companies hire technical supports in New Jersey?
Employers hiring technical supports in New Jersey right now include Merck, NiCE, and FOTILE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical, financial services, and telecommunications firms means consistent demand for technical support professionals across both corporate headquarters and regional offices.
Which New Jersey cities have the most technical support jobs?
Iselin, Rahway, and New Jersey have the most technical support openings in New Jersey. The Newark and Jersey City metro drives much of the volume because of its dense concentration of financial institutions, corporate headquarters, and managed service providers, while Princeton and Cherry Hill generate steady demand from their large pharmaceutical campuses and regional business parks.

Yes, and more than most fields, since a significant portion of technical support work involves diagnosing and resolving issues remotely over phone, chat, or remote desktop tools. About 54% of technical support openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed support teams. Customer service and retail electronics roles are common lateral moves that hiring managers recognize as relevant. A home lab portfolio or documented troubleshooting projects strengthens any application significantly.
