Internal Audit Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a internal audit manager in Florida?
The most direct path is combining a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with a professional certification such as the CIA, CPA, or CISA, all of which are widely recognized by Florida employers. Florida does not require a state-issued license specifically for internal audit managers, but CPA licensure through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation strengthens candidacy significantly. Most hiring managers expect several years of audit staff experience before moving into a management role.
How much do internal audit managers make in Florida?
Internal audit managers in Florida earn a median of about $79,250 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,280 for the lowest 10% to over $131,930 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire internal audit managers in Florida?
Employers hiring internal audit managers in Florida right now include Protiviti, CSX, and Citi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of large hospital systems, regional banks, insurance carriers, and hospitality corporations means demand is distributed across multiple sectors rather than centered in a single industry.
Which Florida cities have the most internal audit manager jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Jacksonville have the most internal audit manager openings in Florida. Miami's density of financial institutions, multinational headquarters, and private equity firms drives the largest share of postings, while Tampa's growing corporate presence in insurance and healthcare and Orlando's large hospitality and healthcare employers account for the remaining concentration.
Are there remote internal audit manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most finance roles, because internal audit work is heavily documentation-based and review-driven. About 100% of internal audit manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed work. Planning, fieldwork coordination, and reporting are the functions most commonly handled remotely, while on-site presence is typically required for initial engagements and sensitive control testing.
How can I get hired as a internal audit manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a staff internal auditor role at a large Florida hospital system, regional bank, or insurance carrier and building toward management from there. Employers like AdventHealth and Florida Blue run structured rotational or development programs that feed internal audit talent into supervisory tracks. Lateral moves from public accounting, compliance analysis, or financial reporting roles are also common entry points. Earning the CIA designation early distinguishes candidates without managerial experience by demonstrating commitment to the profession.
Where can I find and apply to internal audit manager jobs in Florida?
