Systems Architect Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a systems architect in Florida?
Most systems architect roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years of hands-on software or infrastructure work. Florida has no state-issued license specifically for systems architects, so hiring managers rely on industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Professionals targeting defense contracts in Florida often benefit from obtaining a security clearance early in their career.
How much do systems architects make in Florida?
Systems architects in Florida earn a median of about $105,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $52,960 for the lowest 10% to over $173,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire systems architects in Florida?
Employers hiring systems architects in Florida right now include Northrop Grumman, SMX, and MANTECH, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, large regional banks, and major healthcare systems means demand stays consistent across multiple industries rather than depending on a single sector.
Which Florida cities have the most systems architect jobs?
Melbourne, Tampa, and Orlando are the Florida cities with the most systems architect openings. Tampa and Orlando drive volume through defense contractors, technology firms, and large healthcare systems headquartered in Central Florida, while Miami's financial services sector and growing technology corridor add demand in the south, and smaller suburban markets around major campuses also post consistently.
Are there remote systems architect jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of systems architect openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how design, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration can be done effectively from anywhere. Architecture work that involves on-site data center assessment or classified defense environments is the most likely to require a physical presence in Florida.
How can I get hired as a systems architect in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a systems administrator, cloud engineer, or solutions engineer role at a Florida-based employer, then taking on architecture ownership for smaller projects. Large Florida employers in healthcare IT and defense often post associate architect or junior solutions architect roles that accept candidates with strong cloud certifications and a portfolio of design work. Earning a TOGAF Foundation certificate or an AWS or Azure associate-level credential gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge over those with experience alone.
Where can I find and apply to systems architect jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to systems architect jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers hiring now. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each employer without creating an account or going through a third-party process.
