This position is within ITS-ITAPP (Information Technology Administration Partnership Program) and FSU College of Law
ITAPP partners FSU units with ITS to enable the collaborative delivery of technology services and help departments manage the complexity of their IT resources. Through ITAPP, units work with ITS to manage their environment, strengthen operations, and align future technology priorities with institutional strategy.
Responsibilities

Provides IT leadership, management, and administration for the College of Law through a partnership between the College and ITS. Delivers reliable, secure, and scalable IT services in support of the College's mission while operating within ITS to align services with university standards, promote service consolidation, and leverage centrally managed systems, resources, and expertise.

Serves as on-site Information Technology Manager for the College of Law and is responsible for overall direction, planning, system implementation, and staffing. Manager of the college's computing facilities, computing systems, databases, software packages, exam delivery system, audiovisual, multimedia, and lecture-capturing technologies. Daily public contact with students, faculty, and staff.

Liaison connecting the College of Law to Information Technology Services (ITS). Position is expected to leverage and work with existing IT systems and services managed by ITS, including virtualization technologies, directory services, SharePoint, web content management systems, network management, e-mail, file storage, and workstation/lab support. Collaborates with ITS on workstation/system support offerings and processes.

Provides leadership and supervision for embedded IT staff, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Fosters a collaborative work environment, supports professional development, and ensures employees have the guidance and resources needed to effectively perform their roles and meet organizational objectives.

Create reports and work with ITS to assess departmental IT needs, track progress. In collaboration with the Dean, determines/documents policies and procedures, and oversees their implementation and enforcement.

Consults with the Dean of the College of Law on strategic planning and determining the budgeting needs of the IT department. Provides advice, recommendations, and consults with the Law School's executive leadership. Researches, evaluates, and selects IT equipment and services.

Provides the development of new/improved teaching, research, and business capabilities.

Assist the department with the inventory tracking of IT equipment. Maintains access to confidential information. Interprets and applies university connectivity, security, and accessibility procedures. Custodian of the College of Law systems and information. Liaison to other FSU academic and business departments.

Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree, and four years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post-high-school education and experience equal to eight years.)

- Experience providing IT consulting services
- Experience in mentoring and leading people
- Experience working with vendors and reviewing technology proposals
- Experience with security and vulnerability management practices, including risk identification and remediation support
- Experience with Microsoft Intune for centralized endpoint management, including configuration, compliance, and software deployment
- Experience with Microsoft 365 services, including OneDrive and core productivity applications
- Experience supporting Windows 11 workstations in an academic or business environment
- Experience supporting Audio Visual systems and projectors
- Experience supporting the Apple product line, including computers, iPads, and iPhones
- Experience using remote assistance tools/solutions to support end-users
- Meticulous record-keeping with computer systems
- Experience with public speaking and giving presentations
- Experience with life cycle replacement
- Familiar with web content management solutions
- Experience creating and managing IT project plans
- Basic understanding of storage solutions and technologies
- Familiar with networking/telecommunications principles and concepts
- Experience documenting processes and systems (new and existing)
- Experience with AV and lecture capture technologies
- Familiar with Distance Learning technologies
Helpful
The ideal candidate for this position should be an IT generalist with leadership capabilities to provide management and guidance. Excellent customer service, business relationship management, and communication skills are a must.
Typical daily activities of an IT manager include:
- Avoid duplication of effort by leveraging centrally managed IT services and solutions already provided by ITS and FSU
- Leads vulnerability management efforts, including continuous monitoring, risk prioritization, and timely remediation of identified vulnerabilities
- Administering endpoint devices through Microsoft Intune, ensuring configuration standards, compliance, and patching
- Support for specialized and mission unique computing applications/programs
- Provide technical, leadership, expertise, and guidance for the delivery of electronic exam services
- Assists the leadership in developing an overall strategic direction for IT services and management
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to faculty and staff
- IT consulting and project planning
- IT lifecycle planning, asset management, and budgeting
- Server and system administration and support
- Working closely with ITS subject matter experts
- Assisting with disaster recovery planning
- Explore new or innovative ways in which information technologies can help achieve educational, research, and business goals.
In the first 60–90 days, the selected candidate will gain familiarity with ITS and develop an understanding of the College of Law’s technologies, environment, and support needs.
