Becoming an it manager in New Jersey typically requires a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, followed by progressive technical experience. New Jersey does not require a state-issued license for most IT management roles, but employers in regulated sectors like financial services and pharmaceuticals strongly favor certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or a relevant security credential. Starting in roles like systems administrator, network engineer, or IT analyst within a New Jersey organization is the most common path to a management position.
How much do IT managers make in New Jersey?
IT managers in New Jersey earn a median of about $203,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $137,070 for the lowest 10% to over $294,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it managers in New Jersey?

New Jersey's large concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and regional healthcare networks means demand is consistent across a wide range of industries throughout the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most it manager jobs?
The cities with the most it manager openings in New Jersey are Princeton, Camden, and New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City drive volume through their dense concentrations of financial institutions and corporate technology centers, while Parsippany and Princeton attract openings from the pharmaceutical and life sciences companies that have long anchored that corridor of the state.
