Systems Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a systems architect in Texas?
Systems architect is not a state-licensed profession in Texas, so there is no state board exam or registration required to work in the role. Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or systems engineering, along with progressive hands-on experience in software or infrastructure roles. Earning a widely recognized credential such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or the TOGAF certification strengthens candidacy considerably with Texas-based technology, defense, and financial services employers.
How much do systems architects make in Texas?
Systems architects in Texas earn a median of about $111,530 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $55,480 for the lowest 10% to over $174,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire systems architects in Texas?
Employers hiring systems architects in Texas right now include Apple, Jabil, and HP, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense contractors, major financial institutions, and large technology campuses means demand stays consistent well beyond seasonal hiring cycles.
Which Texas cities have the most systems architect jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most systems architect openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology sector and major corporate campuses drive volume there, Dallas anchors enterprise software and financial technology hiring, and Houston's energy industry and large medical center complex generate steady demand for systems architects across both IT and operational technology disciplines.
Are there remote systems architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because systems architecture work centers on design, documentation, and cross-team collaboration that translates well to distributed environments. About 22% of systems architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly Texas employers have adopted flexible work for senior technical roles. Cloud architecture and enterprise integration positions tend to offer the most fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a systems architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into systems architecture from a hands-on technical role such as systems engineer, solutions engineer, or senior software developer, all of which Texas employers regularly treat as direct pipelines into architecture positions. Large Texas employers including Dell Technologies, AT&T, and Lockheed Martin hire new graduates into associate systems engineer programs that rotate through architecture teams. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams, earning an AWS or Azure associate certification, and targeting companies in Austin and Dallas with active graduate programs gives candidates the clearest route in.
Where can I find and apply to systems architect jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to systems architect jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
