Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship as a Solution Manager
Document your solution delivery track record
Compile project portfolios showing end-to-end solution lifecycle ownership before applying. Host organizations filing a J-1 training plan need evidence your background maps to a structured, supervised learning objective rather than routine employment.
Target hosts with active J-1 Trainee agreements
Search for Solution Manager openings at technology consultancies and enterprise software firms that already hold agreements with designated sponsors like Cultural Vistas or AIPT. Hosts without prior J-1 experience add weeks to your start date.
Find J-1-aligned Solution Manager roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter U.S. employers actively hosting international professionals in business technology and solutions roles, saving you from manually vetting which organizations have J-1 program infrastructure already in place.
Clarify the two-year home residency rule early
Solution Manager roles under the Trainee category may trigger the two-year home residency requirement if your home country government or an exchange program funded your participation. Confirm this with your designated sponsor before signing any offer letter.
Align your training plan to DOL wage-level requirements
Your designated sponsor's training plan must reflect a wage that meets prevailing standards for your location and role. Cross-check the wage your host proposes against the OFLC Wage Search before your DS-2019 is issued to catch mismatches early.
Request a draft DS-2019 before resigning your current role
The DS-2019 is issued by the designated sponsor, not your future host employer. Sponsors typically need two to four weeks after receiving a completed training plan. Confirm the issuance timeline in writing so your start date stays realistic.

Find Solution Manager JobsSolution Manager J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits a Solution Manager role?
The Trainee category applies if you have a degree plus at least one year of related work experience, or five or more years of professional experience without a degree. The Specialist category fits if you are recognized as an expert in business solutions management and your role requires applying that specialized expertise rather than completing a structured training program.
Who actually sponsors my J-1 visa for a Solution Manager position?
A U.S. Department of State-designated sponsor organization issues your DS-2019 and holds legal responsibility for your program compliance. The company hiring you as a Solution Manager is your host organization, not your visa sponsor. Organizations like Cultural Vistas, AIPT, and InterExchange administer the sponsorship relationship, while your employer focuses on the day-to-day work arrangement.
How do I find U.S. employers willing to host a J-1 Solution Manager?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for U.S. employers and roles aligned with J-1 sponsorship in business and technology functions, including Solution Manager positions. This is more efficient than cold-applying broadly, because the platform surfaces organizations already open to hosting international professionals rather than requiring you to ask each employer individually about their J-1 program history.
Can a Solution Manager J-1 Trainee later switch to an H-1B?
Yes, but the two-year home residency requirement must be resolved first if it applies to your exchange program. If you are not subject to that requirement, your host employer can file an H-1B petition on your behalf, and the J-1 Trainee period counts as qualifying experience. Confirm your residency obligation status with your designated sponsor in writing before planning any status change.
What does the training plan need to cover for a Solution Manager J-1 application?
The training plan, typically prepared on Form DS-7002, must outline specific learning objectives tied to solution design, stakeholder management, and implementation methodology rather than generic job duties. It should describe how the host organization will supervise your development, set measurable milestones, and distinguish the structured learning component from regular employment responsibilities. Your designated sponsor reviews this plan before issuing your DS-2019.
