Lab Assistant Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a lab assistant job in Jacksonville?
The strongest path into lab assistant work in Jacksonville runs through its healthcare and diagnostics sector, particularly the cluster of hospitals, specialty clinics, and reference labs on and around the Southside. Candidates who have hands-on experience with specimen handling, basic instrumentation, or clinical data entry stand out. Targeting large health systems, independent diagnostic labs, and the research operations tied to UNF and FSCJ's allied health programs will give you the widest set of openings locally.
Which companies hire lab assistants in Jacksonville?
Employers hiring lab assistants in Jacksonville right now include Baptist Health, Mayo Clinic, and UF Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Jacksonville's mix of large regional health systems, nationally affiliated reference laboratories, and a growing pharmaceutical services presence means hiring is spread across both hospital-based and independent lab settings.
How can I get a lab assistant job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Jacksonville is a phlebotomy technician or medical assistant role at one of the city's many outpatient clinics or urgent care centers, which frequently cross-train staff into basic lab support functions. FSCJ and UNF both offer certificate programs that Jacksonville employers recognize and that lead directly to entry-level lab openings. Volunteering or completing a clinical externship at a Southside-area hospital also puts your application in front of the hiring managers who fill those entry positions first.
