Senior Researcher Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior researcher in Florida?
Most senior researcher roles in Florida require at minimum a master's degree, though a doctorate is standard for independent or principal investigator positions. Florida does not issue a state license specifically for the researcher title, but roles in clinical research often require IRB training certification, and those working in regulated environments may need Good Clinical Practice credentials. Florida's major research universities and hospital systems typically promote from within after several years of demonstrated project leadership and publication output.
Which companies hire senior researchers in Florida?
Employers hiring senior researchers in Florida right now include Broward Health, Research Innovations, and Nicklaus Children's Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, academic medical centers, and biotech firms means demand is spread across both the private sector and publicly funded research institutions statewide.
Which Florida cities have the most senior researcher jobs?
Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa have the most senior researcher openings in Florida. Miami and Tampa draw volume from health systems and biotech clusters, while Orlando's activity reflects defense contractor and simulation research presence, and smaller markets like Gainesville and Jacksonville are driven by major academic medical centers and university research programs anchored there.
Are there remote senior researcher jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than many fields, particularly for roles focused on data analysis, policy research, behavioral science, and literature review. About 13% of senior researcher openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the analytical nature of much of this work. Lab-based, clinical, or fieldwork-heavy positions remain predominantly on-site at Florida research facilities and medical campuses.
How can I get hired as a senior researcher in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a research coordinator or research associate role, which large Florida employers such as Moffitt Cancer Center, University of Florida Health, and the University of Miami frequently post as entry-level openings. Graduate research assistantships at Florida's state university system also serve as a direct pipeline. Earning a Good Clinical Practice certification or completing a formal IRB training course strengthens a candidate's profile considerably before applying to competitive programs.
Where can I find and apply to senior researcher jobs in Florida?
