General Scope of Position:

The KC Planning and Logistics Manager provides end-to-end coordination of sales-order demand, production planning, material readiness, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment for the Kansas City site. The position maintains operational visibility, identifies constraints, aligns priorities, and leads clear communication among Sales, Order Management, Purchasing, Production, and other Sefar locations.

This role manages the Production Planning Lead, Warehouse Lead and several Warehouse Associates. Daily planning and warehouse activities are completed through these leads, while the manager owns lead-time and capacity settings, coordinates exceptions and special-order requests, resolves cross-functional issues, and ensures questions regarding order status and operational capability receive timely, well-supported answers.

Position Requirements:

• Three to five years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations, production planning, logistics, materials coordination, order management, or a related environment preferred. A degree in operations, supply chain, business, or a related field is beneficial; relevant experience may substitute for formal education. Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience using a manufacturing ERP system is required; experience with Infor LN is preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate capacity, material availability, order requirements, and competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to take ownership of questions, coordinate across departments, and communicate clear conclusions and next steps.
• Ability to work effectively in office, warehouse, and production environments and lift 30 pounds or more as needed. Occasional travel may be required.

Position Responsibilities

A. Leadership and Operational Coordination

• Direct, support, and evaluate team, including work priorities, performance reviews, time-off approval, corrective action, training, and employee development.
• Maintain a complete view of operational demand, constraints, material readiness, production status, warehouse activity, and shipment requirements.
• Coordinate decisions across planning, production, warehousing, Sales, Order Management, Purchasing, and other sites; escalate significant conflicts.
• Ensure decisions, responsibilities, and next steps are clearly communicated and followed through to completion.

B. Production Planning and Control

• Manage and maintain site production lead times and departmental capacity settings based on current operational capability and business needs.
• Oversee production-order flow and independently issue, adjust, and correct orders within established requirements and priorities.
• Guide the Production Planning Lead, who performs routine order printing, collation, distribution, data correction, and approved date maintenance.
• Evaluate and coordinate expedite requests, large opportunity orders, and other special requirements by confirming material availability, production capacity, warehouse capability, and realistic timing.
• Identify schedule, capacity, routing, bill-of-material, and order-data issues; coordinate corrections with the appropriate functions before they disrupt production or delivery.

C. Order Management and Cross-Functional Communication

• Serve as the primary KC operations contact for questions concerning order status, production readiness, constraints, material availability, and shipment timing.
• Take ownership of operational inquiries by gathering the necessary information, engaging the appropriate teams, and providing a clear and timely response directly to the requesting stakeholder.
• Monitor sales-order and production-order progress from release through shipment and proactively communicate risks, delays, shortages, and changes.
• Participate in planning, order-status, shortage, and special-request meetings as needed and represent the current operational position of the Kansas City site.

D. Warehouse Inventory and Logistics Oversight

• Lead warehouse operations through the Warehouse Lead, who manages routine receiving, picking, staging, shipping, task assignment, and daily execution.
• Set warehouse priorities based on production and fulfillment requirements and intervene when cross-functional alignment, process changes, or significant issues require management support.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, cycle-count performance, lot control, material staging, receiving, shipping, packaging, labeling, freight coordination, and related documentation.
• Ensure inbound materials, production inputs, finished goods, and outbound shipments remain aligned with system data and operational requirements.

E. Indirect Purchasing and Site Supplies

• Manage purchasing and inventory control for non-production supplies, including packaging materials, operating supplies, personal protective equipment, and office supplies.
• Maintain appropriate stocking levels outside the production-material ERP process and ensure essential site supplies are available when needed.
• Create purchase orders, coordinate with the site’s established vendors, monitor deliveries, and resolve pricing, availability, quality, or receiving issues.
• Monitor usage and purchasing practices to support availability, cost control, and responsible inventory levels.

F. ERP Data and Process Improvement

• Use Infor LN extensively to manage production-order activity, capacity and lead-time settings, order corrections, status review, purchase orders, and other assigned operational transactions.
• Maintain accurate and timely ERP data and reinforce proper system use within the planning and warehouse functions.
• Analyze operational reports, schedules, charts, and order data to identify emerging constraints, missed commitments, recurring errors, and improvement opportunities.
• Lead or support improvements in planning, material flow, inventory accuracy, order visibility, communication, and operational responsiveness.

G. Quality Safety and Equipment

• Ensure planning, warehouse, inventory, shipping, and purchasing activities comply with applicable quality and safety requirements.
• Support incident investigations, corrective actions, training, and process changes within the position’s areas of responsibility.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, and site leadership regarding warehouse equipment needs, safety concerns, preventive maintenance, and operational interruptions.

H. Other

• Complete special assignments as required by management.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
