Maintenance Supervisor
United Hospital Services, LLC
Indianapolis, Indiana | Full-Time
Lead, Improve, and Build Your Future at UHS
United Hospital Services is looking for an experienced maintenance professional who is ready for more than another technician position. We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor who can lead people, solve difficult equipment problems, and help shape the future of maintenance at our Indianapolis operation.
UHS provides essential healthcare textile services to hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Indiana. Our operation depends on complex industrial equipment, reliable utility systems, and a maintenance team that knows how to respond when production needs support. This is a highly visible leadership position with the ability to make an immediate and measurable impact.
Just as importantly, this is a position with a future. UHS is continuing to invest in equipment, automation, facilities, and leadership development. The person who succeeds in this role will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and advance into broader maintenance or operational leadership positions within the company.
The Opportunity
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the employees responsible for maintaining our industrial production equipment and facility systems. You will establish daily priorities, coordinate preventive maintenance, support equipment installations, and work closely with production leadership to keep the operation running safely and efficiently.
This is not a desk-only supervisory role. The right person will be visible on the plant floor, working alongside the maintenance team, helping diagnose difficult problems, developing employees, and making sure repairs are completed correctly. You will have the authority and responsibility to improve work practices, strengthen preventive maintenance, and help reduce equipment downtime.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, scheduling, training, and developing maintenance employees.
- Troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Coordinating preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, installations, spare parts, and facility upkeep.
- Supporting the safe and efficient operation of boiler room, steam, water-treatment, and other building systems.
- Working with production leadership to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize disruptions.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a dependable leader who understands industrial maintenance and knows how to bring people together to solve problems. You should be comfortable reading schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical procedures. You should also be able to organize competing priorities, communicate clearly, and remain composed when an urgent equipment issue affects production.
Qualified candidates should have three to five years of industrial maintenance experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate degree or technical-school education in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience as a maintenance supervisor, lead technician, or team leader is strongly preferred.
The position requires some schedule flexibility, including occasional evening, weekend, or off-shift support when operational needs require it.
Why UHS?
At UHS, maintenance is not treated as an afterthought. It is a critical part of our ability to serve healthcare customers, operate safely, and continue growing. In this position, your ideas, leadership, and technical knowledge will matter.
You will have the opportunity to lead a team, improve maintenance systems, participate in equipment and facility projects, and build a long-term career with a stable company serving an essential industry.
If you are ready to move beyond simply repairing equipment and begin leading people, improving operations, and building the next stage of your career, we would like to hear from you.
Apply today and help lead the team that keeps UHS moving.
United Hospital Services, LLC is an equal opportunity employer. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities so they can perform the essential functions of the position.

Maintenance Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a maintenance job in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis hiring concentrates in its large apartment complexes along the north side, the downtown hotel and hospitality corridor, and the manufacturing and logistics facilities on the southeast side near I-65 and I-74. Candidates with HVAC troubleshooting, electrical basics, or plumbing experience stand out. Applying directly to property management companies and healthcare systems gives you the strongest shot in this market.
Which companies hire maintenances in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis maintenance roles are posted by Reworld, Carrier, and PepsiCo and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city's hiring is led by apartment management firms, hospital networks like IU Health and Ascension, and large manufacturers on the south and east sides.
Are there remote maintenance jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the field. Hands-on facility and building maintenance is almost always on-site by nature. About 0% of maintenance openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be coordination, scheduling, or facilities management roles rather than technical trades work.
How can I get a maintenance job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Indianapolis is a maintenance helper or groundskeeper role with a residential property management company, several of which hire with no prior experience and train on the job. Indianapolis's large multifamily housing market along the north side and Fountain Square area creates steady openings. Earning an EPA Section 608 certification, even before your first job, makes your application noticeably more competitive locally.
Which industries hire the most maintenances in Indianapolis?
Most maintenance openings in Indianapolis sit in Food & Beverage, Electronics & Hardware, and Distribution & Wholesale, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indianapolis's status as a regional healthcare hub and its dense concentration of distribution and light manufacturing facilities on the south and east sides drive consistent year-round demand.
