Market Research Analyst Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a market research analyst in Illinois?
Market research analysts in Illinois do not require a state-issued license or exam, so the path runs through education and demonstrated skills. Most Illinois employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, statistics, economics, or a related field. The Chicago area's concentration of consumer goods companies, financial firms, and healthcare organizations means candidates who build experience with quantitative analysis, survey design, or data visualization are competitive. Professional credentials such as the Insights Association's PCM designation can strengthen a candidacy, particularly for roles at larger firms.
How much do market research analysts make in Illinois?
Market research analysts in Illinois earn a median of about $79,120 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,970 for the lowest 10% to over $139,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire market research analysts in Illinois?
Employers hiring market research analysts in Illinois right now include AbbVie, Amgen, and Waterton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's dense concentration of consumer packaged goods headquarters, financial services firms, and large healthcare systems means hiring is spread across corporate research, agency, and in-house insights teams.
Which Illinois cities have the most market research analyst jobs?
Mettawa, Chicago, and Evanston have the most market research analyst openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the bulk of demand through its headquarters-heavy economy in consumer goods, finance, and healthcare, while suburban hubs like Deerfield and Naperville contribute significant volume from major corporate campuses, including large CPG and insurance company headquarters, that maintain dedicated insights and analytics teams.
Are there remote market research analyst jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields, since market research analysis is predominantly desk-based and output-driven. About 100% of market research analyst openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Survey design, data analysis, and report writing are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely, while stakeholder presentations and collaborative strategy sessions are more likely to require occasional in-person attendance.
How can I get hired as a market research analyst in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to research coordinator or junior analyst roles at Chicago-area consumer goods, insurance, or market research agency firms, where entry-level hiring is most consistent. Companies such as large CPG headquarters in the northern suburbs and financial services firms in the Loop regularly bring on new graduates into rotational or analyst development programs. Adjacent roles in data entry, marketing coordination, or customer insights also transition naturally into research analyst work. Building a portfolio of class projects, freelance surveys, or personal data analyses, alongside proficiency in Excel and SPSS, gives candidates a concrete edge in interviews.
Where can I find and apply to market research analyst jobs in Illinois?
