After training, you apply for licensure through the Texas Medical Board and must pass their requirements, including a background check and verification of credentials. Board certification through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology is expected by most Texas employers before or shortly after hire.

Which companies hire maternal-fetal medicine physicians in Texas?
Employers hiring maternal-fetal medicine physicians in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, Pediatrix Medical, and Cook Incorporated, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated academic health systems and regional perinatal referral centers drive the steadiest volume of openings across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most maternal-fetal medicine physician jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Abilene account for the most maternal-fetal medicine physician openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its density of Level III and IV perinatal centers and academic programs, while Dallas and San Antonio draw hiring through large health systems and university-affiliated maternal medicine programs that serve surrounding high-growth suburban populations.
Are there remote maternal-fetal medicine physician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Maternal-fetal medicine is a hands-on clinical specialty that requires in-person patient care, procedures, and imaging interpretation on-site. About 0% of maternal-fetal medicine physician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve tele-MFM consultation roles where physicians interpret ultrasounds or provide subspecialty guidance to community hospitals remotely.
How can I get hired as a maternal-fetal medicine physician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly out of fellowship to academic centers that offer structured onboarding for new attendings, such as UT Health, Texas A&M Health, or CHRISTUS Health affiliated programs. Large Texas systems frequently recruit new fellows into junior attending or faculty-track roles. Candidates strengthen their position with a Texas Medical Board license in hand, strong fellowship case volume in fetal surgery or complex ultrasound, and any research or teaching experience from a Texas-affiliated training program.
