Nurse Anesthetist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse anesthetist in Texas?
To practice as a nurse anesthetist in Texas, you must hold an active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing and maintain national CRNA certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. The path starts with an accredited nurse anesthesia program at the master's or doctoral level, followed by passing the National Certification Examination. Texas requires APRN licensure renewal and ongoing continuing education to remain in good standing.
How much do nurse anesthetists make in Texas?
Nurse anesthetists in Texas earn a median of about $244,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $169,350 for the lowest 10% to over $340,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire nurse anesthetists in Texas?
Employers hiring nurse anesthetists in Texas right now include Baylor College of Medicine, CHRISTUS Health, and Sound Physicians, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's high volume of Level I trauma centers, academic medical centers, and large ambulatory surgery networks means openings appear consistently across both large health systems and regional specialty practices.
Which Texas cities have the most nurse anesthetist jobs?
Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas have the most nurse anesthetist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its concentration of large academic medical centers and trauma hospitals, Dallas follows with major health system headquarters like Baylor Scott & White and UT Southwestern driving consistent demand, and San Antonio's military medical infrastructure alongside its growing civilian hospital base keeps openings steady there as well.
Are there remote nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Nurse anesthesia is a hands-on clinical specialty requiring physical presence in the operating room, so the overwhelming majority of roles are fully on-site. About 0% of nurse anesthetist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve administrative, education, or case review functions rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a nurse anesthetist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path for a new CRNA in Texas is applying to new-graduate or transition-to-practice programs at large health systems such as HCA Healthcare's Texas facilities, UTHealth Houston, or Baylor Scott & White, which onboard new graduates with structured clinical mentorship. Candidates coming from ICU, cardiac care, or trauma nursing have the strongest footing given how directly that experience maps to anesthesia cases. Completing your Texas Board of Nursing APRN licensure and NBCRNA certification before applying removes a common hiring bottleneck.
Where can I find and apply to nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to nurse anesthetist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across health systems, surgery centers, and specialty practices. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly through each listing.
