C.N.A. Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a c.n.a. in Texas?
To become a c.n.a. in Texas, you must complete a nurse aide training program approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and pass the state competency evaluation, which includes a written and skills portion administered by Pearson VUE. After passing, you are listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry maintained by HHSC. Some community colleges and vocational schools in Texas offer short accelerated programs that satisfy these requirements.
Which companies hire c.n.a.s in Texas?
Employers hiring c.n.a.s in Texas right now include CHRISTUS Health, Kindred Hospitals, and Prime Healthcare Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large multi-facility health systems and long-term care networks means consistent openings appear across multiple regions of the state throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most c.n.a. jobs?
Houston, Mission, and Dallas have the most c.n.a. openings in Texas, driven by the density of hospital campuses, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies headquartered in those metros. Smaller cities like Lubbock and El Paso also see steady volume because of regional medical centers and Veterans Affairs facilities that anchor local healthcare employment.
Are there remote c.n.a. jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. C.n.a. work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring direct patient contact, so the vast majority of roles are on-site. About 3% of c.n.a. openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those typically involve care coordination, telephone triage support, or documentation-heavy roles rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get hired as a c.n.a. in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a Texas Health and Human Services Commission-approved training program, many of which are offered free or low-cost through Texas community colleges or paid for by long-term care employers as part of a hire-then-train model. Large Texas operators like nursing home chains and assisted living networks frequently post entry-level aide roles open to candidates currently in training. Holding a current CPR certification and any prior experience as a home health aide, patient care technician, or personal care attendant strengthens an application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to c.n.a. jobs in Texas?
