How do I get a mechanical engineer job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on the aerospace and defense sector along the South Bay coast, advanced manufacturing in the San Fernando Valley, and clean energy and infrastructure firms operating out of downtown and the Westside. Candidates with hands-on CAD, FEA, or systems integration experience stand out most here. Targeting companies with active government or commercial aerospace contracts gives you the strongest foothold in the Los Angeles market.
Which companies hire mechanical engineers in Los Angeles?

The local employer mix skews heavily toward aerospace primes and their supply chains, plus a growing number of electric vehicle and clean energy firms that have expanded their engineering teams in the region.
Are there remote mechanical engineer jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, but with limits: mechanical engineering is largely hands-on, so fully remote roles are uncommon compared to software or finance fields. About 33% of mechanical engineer openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most of those being hybrid arrangements. Roles in simulation, thermal analysis, and systems engineering tend to offer the most schedule flexibility among Los Angeles employers.
How can I get a mechanical engineer job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through internship-to-hire pipelines at aerospace and defense contractors clustered in El Segundo, Hawthorne, and Redondo Beach, many of which run structured new-grad programs. Entry-level titles like associate mechanical engineer, manufacturing engineer, or test engineer are the common doors locally. Building proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA and completing any relevant aerospace coursework or capstone projects sharpens your profile for Los Angeles hiring managers.
