Candidates with phlebotomy or EHR experience stand out in this market, as do those familiar with Epic, which is widely used across the region. Yes, though remote work is limited for medical assistants given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of most roles. About 0% of medical assistant openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, mostly in care coordination, prior authorization, and telehealth support positions. Those functions are the most likely to offer flexible or home-based schedules in the St. Louis market.
How can I get a medical assistant job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in St. Louis is through a certified medical assistant program at a community college or vocational school, after which federally qualified health centers and urgent care chains in the region regularly hire new graduates. Patient service representative and medical receptionist roles at large St. Louis health systems are also strong stepping stones. Volunteering or completing a clinical rotation at a local hospital strengthens your application considerably.
