Graduate Nurse Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graduate nurse in Missouri?
To work as a graduate nurse in Missouri, you must graduate from an accredited nursing program and pass the NCLEX-RN to obtain licensure through the Missouri State Board of Nursing. Missouri participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so a compact license from another member state is recognized here. Most employers require or strongly prefer candidates who have already scheduled their NCLEX before their start date.
Which companies hire graduate nurses in Missouri?
Missouri graduate nurse roles are posted by SSM Health, Mercy, and Saint Francis Healthcare and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's largest health systems concentrate much of the hiring in the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas, where hospital networks run formal new-graduate residency cohorts multiple times per year.
Which Missouri cities have the most graduate nurse jobs?
Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, and Springfield lead Missouri for graduate nurse openings. St. Louis and Kansas City drive the bulk of volume thanks to their dense concentration of major academic medical centers and multi-hospital health systems, while Springfield anchors southwest Missouri as a regional hub where Mercy and CoxHealth operate flagship campuses that consistently hire new graduates.
Are there remote graduate nurse jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. About 100% of graduate nurse openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on bedside care inherently requires an on-site presence. The exceptions are roles in telephone triage, care management, and utilization review, which some Missouri health systems post as fully remote for nurses with relevant clinical background.
How can I get hired as a graduate nurse in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to a structured nurse residency program, which BJC HealthCare, Saint Luke's, Mercy Health, and CoxHealth all run for new graduates with no prior acute-care experience. These cohort-based programs combine supervised clinical hours with classroom instruction and are specifically designed for candidates fresh out of school. Holding an active Missouri RN license, even without a specialty credential, is the single factor that moves applications forward fastest.
Where can I find and apply to graduate nurse jobs in Missouri?
