Graduate Nurse Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graduate nurse in Pennsylvania?
You must graduate from an accredited nursing program and pass the NCLEX-RN to obtain a Pennsylvania RN license through the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Applications are submitted through the Department of State's online licensing portal. An associate degree in nursing qualifies you to sit for the exam, though many Pennsylvania hospital systems prefer or require a bachelor of science in nursing for graduate nurse hires.
Which companies hire graduate nurses in Pennsylvania?
Companies currently hiring graduate nurses in Pennsylvania include UPMC, Penn State Health, and Allegheny Health Network, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's dense network of academic medical centers and regional health systems means graduate nurse openings are distributed statewide, not limited to the largest cities.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most graduate nurse jobs?
Pittsburgh, Camp Hill, and Hershey have the most graduate nurse openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates hiring through its concentration of academic medical centers and large health systems, while Pittsburgh's strength in cardiac and oncology care drives consistent demand, and Allentown reflects the rapid growth of Lehigh Valley Health Network as a regional employer.
Are there remote graduate nurse jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of graduate nurse openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, because the role is fundamentally hands-on and performed at the bedside. The small share of remote work in nursing typically involves telephone triage, care coordination, or utilization review roles that graduate nurses move into after gaining floor experience.
How can I get hired as a graduate nurse in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a structured new graduate nurse residency program, which large Pennsylvania health systems such as UPMC, Penn Medicine, and Jefferson Health run specifically for candidates without post-graduation experience. These residency programs pair you with a preceptor for several months on a unit like med-surg or telemetry. Completing your clinical rotations at a target hospital, earning your BLS certification before applying, and having your Pennsylvania RN license in hand at the time of application all give you a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to graduate nurse jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to graduate nurse jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, specialty interest, and preferred location across Pennsylvania, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
