Net Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a net engineer in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a net engineer, so the path runs through education and industry certification. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or network engineering, combined with a Cisco CCNA or equivalent vendor certification. Community colleges across Texas, including those in the Dallas, Houston, and Austin metro areas, offer networking and IT programs that feed directly into entry-level roles at local employers.
How much do net engineers make in Texas?
Net engineers in Texas earn a median of about $133,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,110 for the lowest 10% to over $191,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire net engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring net engineers in Texas right now include Saxon Global, Collabera, and Esolvit, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of telecommunications headquarters, energy firms, and large defense contractors means hiring is steady across both the private sector and government-adjacent work.
Which Texas cities have the most net engineer jobs?
Austin, Irving, and Dallas have the most net engineer openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its dense concentration of corporate headquarters and telecom carriers, Houston draws demand from energy and petrochemical firms running large private networks, and Austin's fast-growing technology sector keeps hiring active across startups and established companies alike.
Are there remote net engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, though remote availability is more limited than in purely desk-based roles because net engineers are often needed on-site to install, configure, or troubleshoot physical infrastructure. About 9% of net engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting a mix of site-dependent and management roles. Network architecture, monitoring, and cloud networking design are the sub-areas where fully remote arrangements appear most often.
How can I get hired as a net engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate-level IT support or help desk role at a large Texas employer, which builds hands-on exposure to networking tools and internal infrastructure. Large Texas institutions such as Texas A&M University System, H-E-B, and regional hospital networks regularly hire IT technicians as a feeder into network operations roles. Earning a Cisco CCNA while working in a support capacity is the credential that most consistently moves candidates into their first dedicated net engineer position without a long work history.
Where can I find and apply to net engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to net engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search roles by city or specialty, find the ones that match your background, and apply directly through the listing.
