Network Operations Control Center (NOCC) Technician – Level I/II/III
Job Summary
We are seeking a NOCC Technician to support the surveillance, troubleshooting, and maintenance of wireless, fiber, IP, and broadband telecommunications networks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring network reliability, minimizing service disruptions, and delivering exceptional customer experiences through continuous monitoring, rapid issue resolution, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors. The position may be filled at Level I, II, or III based on the candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and ability to handle increasingly complex network operations responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Level I – NOCC Technician
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to telecommunications equipment, including:
- Lucent & Nortel CDMA switches
- Alcatel-Lucent platforms
- Fujitsu Calix OCC AMB TICIS co
- Other network hardware platforms
- Maintain, test, and troubleshoot:
- OCn circuits
- Gigabit Ethernet
- DS3
- T1
- DWDM facilities
- Legacy and IP-based networks
- Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with:
- Network vendors
- Infrastructure teams
- Field technicians
- Engineering teams
- Internal technical groups
- Resolve network issues escalated from:
- Customer support teams
- Engineering
- Field services
- Other operational teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Level II – NOCC Technician
Includes all Level I responsibilities, plus:
- Provide troubleshooting support and guidance to Tier I technicians.
- Investigate outage logs and assist with root cause analysis.
- Document and prepare outage reports for NOCC leadership.
- Support resolution of complex customer and internal network issues.
Level III – NOCC Technician
Includes all Level II responsibilities, plus:
- Serve as Tier II support for complex network incidents.
- Handle advanced troubleshooting of internal and customer-facing network issues.
- Make critical operational decisions regarding:
- After-hours field dispatches
- Emergency maintenance activities
- Network restoration efforts
- Provide technical leadership during major incidents and outages.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Level I Requirements
- Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in:
- Wireless communications
- Data networks
- Telecommunications services
- Previous NOCC, NOC, or telecommunications operations experience preferred.
- Knowledge of CDMA/LTE wireless systems preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Level II Requirements
- All Level I qualifications.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Network Operations Control Center (NOCC/NOC) environment.
- Ability to independently perform Level II responsibilities.
- Experience troubleshooting telecommunications networks and infrastructure.
Level III Requirements
- All Level II qualifications.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a Network Operations Control Center (NOCC/NOC) environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle advanced troubleshooting, escalations, and network operations responsibilities.
