Network Technician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a network technician in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a network technician, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most Texas employers expect at least a two-year degree in information technology or computer networking from a community college or technical program, paired with CompTIA Network+ or a Cisco certification such as CCNA. Texas State Technical College and community college systems across the state offer programs specifically aligned with these credentials.
How much do network technicians make in Texas?
Network technicians in Texas earn a median of about $66,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,440 for the lowest 10% to over $110,570 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire network technicians in Texas?
Employers hiring network technicians in Texas right now include Amazon, Arista Networks, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of telecom headquarters, defense contractors, and large enterprise IT departments means demand is consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which Texas cities have the most network technician jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Plano have the most network technician openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, data centers, and telecom infrastructure, while Houston's energy and healthcare sectors drive steady demand, and Austin's growing technology industry has created a strong secondary market for networking professionals.
Are there remote network technician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Network technician roles are largely hands-on, requiring physical access to equipment, cabling, and on-site infrastructure. About 17% of network technician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in network monitoring, NOC analyst work, and cloud networking support rather than field or installation roles.
How can I get hired as a network technician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a help desk or IT support role, which many Texas employers use as a pipeline into networking positions. Large Texas-based employers like AT&T and Dell Technologies, as well as major health systems such as HCA Houston Healthcare, regularly hire entry-level IT support technicians with CompTIA A+ or Network+ credentials. Community college programs at institutions like Austin Community College and Lone Star College offer certificates that help candidates move from adjacent roles such as desktop support or cable technician into dedicated network technician positions.
Where can I find and apply to network technician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to network technician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
