NP Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a np job in San Diego?
San Diego's np market is driven by its large military-affiliated health system, a dense network of federally qualified health centers serving border-region communities, and a growing biotech corridor that supports clinical research roles. Candidates who have experience in family practice, urgent care, or behavioral health find the most openings. Targeting health systems in Kearny Mesa, Chula Vista, and the Hillcrest medical district gives you the broadest exposure to active postings.
Which companies hire nps in San Diego?
Employers hiring nps in San Diego right now include Rady Children's Hospital, UC San Diego Health, and Perlman Clinic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's hiring mix leans toward large integrated health networks, VA-affiliated facilities, and multi-site urgent care groups spread across the county.
Are there remote np jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for nps given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of most roles. About 30% of np openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in telehealth, utilization review, and care management positions. In San Diego specifically, those roles tend to sit within larger health systems that run centralized telehealth operations.
How can I get a np job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through federally qualified health centers and community clinics, which serve high-need populations and are more likely to hire new graduates than private specialty practices. Roles in urgent care chains and correctional health facilities throughout the county also routinely onboard new NPs with structured supervision. Building clinical hours during your program at a San Diego-based site strengthens your local network before you apply.
Which industries hire the most nps in San Diego?
Most np openings in San Diego sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Agriculture & Farming, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border, its large active-duty and veteran population, and its expanding biotech sector all sustain consistent demand for nps across those fields.
