Nurse Practitioner Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a nurse practitioner job in Jacksonville?
Jacksonville's largest hiring concentrations are in its major health systems, federally qualified health centers, and the growing network of urgent care and specialty clinics along the Southside and in the Riverside-Avondale corridor. Candidates with primary care, family medicine, or psychiatric mental health specializations tend to move fastest here. Tailoring your application to the specific patient population a practice serves, whether underserved community health or high-volume urgent care, gives you a real edge in this market.
Which companies hire nurse practitioners in Jacksonville?
Employers hiring nurse practitioners in Jacksonville right now include UF Health, Mayo Clinic, and Ascension, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's employer mix runs from large regional health systems and veterans' care facilities to independent specialty groups and community health organizations serving the city's diverse neighborhoods.
Are there remote nurse practitioner jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, though remote nurse practitioner work is limited by nature since most roles require direct patient contact. About 8% of nurse practitioner openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, covering positions where patient interaction is conducted via telehealth. In Jacksonville, telepsychiatry and chronic disease management roles account for most of those remote opportunities.
How can I get a nurse practitioner job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jacksonville is through federally qualified health centers and community health clinics, which regularly hire new graduates and offer structured onboarding for nurse practitioners entering primary care. Residency and fellowship programs at Jacksonville-area health systems also provide a supervised bridge into independent practice. Targeting roles in family medicine, urgent care, or occupational health, where caseloads are broad and mentorship is built into the model, puts newer practitioners in the strongest position locally.
Which industries hire the most nurse practitioners in Jacksonville?
Jacksonville nurse practitioner roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's status as a regional medical hub for northeast Florida, combined with its large military and veterans' health infrastructure and a growing senior population, keeps those sectors consistently active.
