ABOUT THE JOB
Davis & Elkins College, a private college in the liberal arts tradition, invites applications for a full-time position within the Division of Nursing, beginning in August 2026. The position is for our new hybrid ASN and hybrid accelerated 3-year BSN programs. The successful candidate will need to be available for students, in person and online, for both evening and weekend hours. Some of the responsibilities include teaching/evaluating nursing skills in the labs, proctoring exams, conducting exam reviews, administrating makeup exams, and other duties as assigned. The faculty will spend about two-thirds of their time on campus, with full days on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. The remaining time will be communicating with students virtually, including evenings. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Licensure as a registered professional nurse in West Virginia
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a registered professional nurse
Recommended
- A graduate degree with a major in Nursing
- A bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing and enrolled in a graduate degree program
- A bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing and at least ten years of direct patient care experience in Nursing

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing curriculum.
- Participate in the selection of learning experiences for students.
- Promote environment conducive to student growth and satisfaction.
- Participate in advising of assigned students.
- Participate in textbook selection as well as other teaching material.
- Participate in the development of course syllabi.
- Provide classroom and clinical instruction when appropriate.
- Utilize appropriate technology, electronic resources, and learning activities to enhance student learning.
- Evaluate students in the classroom and clinical area.
- Participate in recruitment and retention of students.
- Serve on Division and College Committees.
- Participate in College functions and activities.
- Assume responsibility for continued professional development.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of the Division of Nursing.
- Communicate with students and colleagues in a professional manner.
- Establish effective working relationships with personnel from the community.
