We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Adjunct Practical Nursing Instructor to join our academic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nursing professional who enjoys sharing their clinical knowledge, mentoring aspiring nurses, and helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The Adjunct Practical Nursing Instructor will provide instruction and guidance to nursing students in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings, as assigned. The ideal candidate will bring practical nursing experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to student learning and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings in accordance with established curriculum and program requirements.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans, course objectives, instructional materials, and student evaluation methods.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback on student assignments, examinations, and clinical performance.
- Monitor student attendance, academic progress, and performance, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, confidence, and academic success.
- Mentor students in developing the clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviors essential to nursing practice.
- Provide academic assistance and guidance to students as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate student attendance, grading, and academic records.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum discussions, and academic activities as requested.
- Maintain current nursing knowledge and instructional effectiveness through continuing education and professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current, valid, and unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of five years of professional nursing experience.
- Current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to translate professional nursing experience into effective instruction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish positive, professional relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and educational technology.
- Experience with learning management systems preferred.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
- A positive, collaborative, and student-focused approach.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping others achieve their career goals.
