Department: Medicine | School Biomedical Sciences Microbial Infection and Immunity
Job Description
The Institute of Brain, Behavior, and Immunology and the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center are partnering to recruit one tenure-track Assistant Professor who studies immune-brain interactions relevant to health. The candidates should focus on immune or infectious agent interactions with the central or peripheral nervous system in the context of behavior.
Candidates should have an MD/PhD or PhD in immunology, virology, or microbiology with interest in immune-nervous system approaches, documented evidence of high-quality, impactful research, and a strong commitment to education and collaborative research at a major university. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program and participate in graduate and medical student education. Faculty will be provided with a competitive salary and start-up-package. The offer for this position will be based on internal equity and the candidate's qualifications. Visa and immigration sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
Current strengths of the Institute include: stress & immunology, gut-immune-brain axis, psychoneuroimmunology over the lifespan and by sex, and mind-body health. Current strengths of the Department include: innate and adaptive immunity, mucosal pathogens, biofilms, autoimmunity, intracellular parasitism, and vaccines. The Institute/Department have an outstanding research facility and support, including a vibrant collaborative research community, an open laboratory environment that promotes interactions, and state-of-the-art core facilities. The Institute/Department are closely affiliated with the Infectious Disease Institute, the Center for Microbiome Sciences, the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology, the Neuroscience Research Institute, and other OSU Institutes and Centers.

Required Qualifications
MD/PhD or PhD in immunology, virology, or microbiology with interest in immune-nervous system approaches, documented evidence of high-quality, impactful research, and a strong commitment to education and collaborative research at a major university. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
