INTRODUCTION
The Department of Pathology, College of Graduate Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology. The successful candidate will participate in team-taught Pathology courses within our medical and health professions programs and will be expected to establish an independent research program. Applicants with demonstrated teaching expertise will be prioritized. Review of applications will begin immediately and will close when the position is filled.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- MD or DO with a completion of a pathology residency or a PhD with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience with demonstrated expertise in Pathology.
- The candidate will work under the supervision of the Chair and be responsible for assigned lectures in the School of Medicine Pathology courses as well as the Dental/Optometry basic science courses.
- Service to university committees, etc., is also expected.
- Tenure track candidates will pursue research and academic promotion according to university guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in the Doctor of Osteopathy, Podiatric Medicine, Dental Medicine and Optometry programs, primarily via in person lecture based didactic presentations which mirror and expound upon the subject matter covered in the primary course texts (Robbins & Cotran, Pathologic Basis of Disease and Robbins, Basic Pathology) as assigned and coordinated by the Course Director or Department Chair. Additional instructional responsibilities may be assigned.
- Develop and prepare examination questions appropriate to the content delivered via lecture and aid in evaluation of student performance. Proctor and/or assist in post-exam reviews as needed.
- Assist in departmental curricular goals, meeting departmental objectives or other educational missions of the department.
- Participate in mentoring and supporting students’ academic needs.
- Participate in the summer retake courses.
- Participate in service to the University and its Colleges and the community via volunteering to conduct prospective student candidate interviews, participate in assigned or elected university committees, promote student research opportunities, and other activities of importance to the university.
- Tenure track candidates will be expected to conduct research and be productive in their academic field of interest. Academic productivity and academic promotion are evaluated as per university guidelines.
