Nursing Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a nursing job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on the large academic medical systems anchored near Westwood and Boyle Heights, the county-run facilities that serve the eastern and southern parts of the city, and the growing network of outpatient surgery and urgent care centers spreading through the San Fernando Valley. Candidates who hold specialty certifications in critical care, emergency, or oncology tend to move faster through the process, and bilingual Spanish skills carry real weight across much of the Los Angeles market.
Which companies hire nursings in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring nursings in Los Angeles right now include American Career College, Keck Medicine of USC, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Los Angeles supports a broad range of employer types, from large public health systems and university-affiliated hospitals to ambulatory surgery centers and specialty outpatient clinics.
Are there remote nursing jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, but with a significant caveat: most nursing roles require hands-on patient care and are fully on-site by nature. About 18% of nursing openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions skew heavily toward utilization review, case management, and telephonic triage roles that draw on clinical training without requiring a physical bedside presence.
How can I get a nursing job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is a new graduate residency program at one of the city's large academic or county hospital systems, which are structured specifically to bring RNs from graduation into supervised clinical practice. Candidates who completed clinical rotations at Los Angeles facilities already have a relationship advantage. Applying to med-surge or telemetry floors first, then moving into a specialty, is a well-established progression locally, and county health department facilities often post entry-level openings more frequently than private systems.
Which industries hire the most nursings in Los Angeles?
The sectors hiring the most nursings in Los Angeles are Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Los Angeles combines one of the country's largest public health infrastructures with a concentrated cluster of academic research hospitals and private specialty centers, which together sustain broad and consistent nursing demand across multiple care settings.
